Python for processing EnergyPlus simulations + Ladybug Tools
In this course, we will discuss how Python aids in pre-processing, processing and post-processing the building energy simulation tools EnergyPlus and Ladybug tools in Rhino Grasshopper.

Python is an open-source and well-appreciated scripting tool in many domains. Python scripting for building energy simulation tools can be performed directly or indirectly using the application programming interfaces available with energy simulation tools.
Today, learning building energy simulation tools alone can’t help designers with versatile options. Scripting is needed to model and simulate present-day technologies such as dynamic facades and thermochromic coatings. The scripting is also resourceful in collecting, organising, analysing and visualising the spatial and temporal data generated from large-scale building energy simulations.
About the instructor
Naga Venkata Sai Kumar Manapragada is a PhD Scholar at the Environmental Performance Design Lab allied to the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. His current research includes developing simple EnergyPlus and CFD integration approaches to recognise Energy and Environmental-friendly Urban forms. Naga completed his Masters of Science by Research in Information Technology in Building Science from the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad, India. He worked as Energy Performance Analyst for three years at Integrative Design Solutions Private Limited in New Delhi for research-based consulting, capacity building and knowledge products development. His notable works include conducting large-scale simulations and analyses for developing India's residential energy conservation building code Part II. Later, he joined academia for two years in Schools of Architecture in India to introduce the concept of informed design making. During this period, he has collaborated with experts in the dental and mechatronics fields and co-founded a start-up, “SVN Nova Tech”, which works on human-centric bio-medical device design and development.
